Q. What is R-Value?

A. R-Value is the capacity of an insulating material to resist heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.

Q. What’s with all the different colours of insulation in my walls?

A. We use multiple suppliers, who all carry their preferred brand of insulation. Each brand tends to have its own colour, such as Pink for Owen’s Corning, or Yellow for CertainTeed. Click the following links for a full list of suppliers and materials that we use. Please note colour does not determine the R-value.

Q. How do I know how much insulation is in my attic?

A. Code varies district to district, but for most of the Fraser Valley, R40 is blown or batted in attics. When blown in, R40 is 15” thick, but does settle over time, so a little less than that is nothing to worry about. Want to upgrade your attic? Fill out this form and select “attic upgrade” under job type.
